I am a “live looper”, which means I don’t play with pre-recorded tracks - everything you hear is made up right there, on the spot, for better or worse. I play mostly original tunes using my electric violin, a large suite of guitar pedals, and a 3-channel looping station. Although I play solo, guitar pedals allow me to lay down tracks as a cello, a bass, an electric guitar, a synth, & an orchestra, so it can sound like there are a bunch of people playing. The pieces I play don’t really fall into a nice, tidy genre — they’ve all got influences from Bluegrass, Celtic, Classical, Folk, New Age, and a little rock n’ roll, all smooshed together. If you’re curious, click on the “Music” link where I’ve planted a few recordings & videos. I play at farmers markets, festivals, concerts, retirement communities, and private events; if you’re interested, please contact me!
About me: I started playing violin when I was 8 and did exclusively classical music through college. Since then I’ve gone down lots of other paths including fiddling at contra dances, playing in a marimba band, singing in choirs and glee clubs, electric fiddling in a rock band, and, since 2008, fiddling and singing with the Vancouver (USA)-based bluegrass band “Fadin’ by 9”.
